OPC service question...

Had cause to complain about a 2010 997.2 C4S bought from local OPC. Requested that the car be serviced before delivery, a standard practice in all my previous purchases, but not with an OPC it would seem, they refused saying that the service would be out of synch by three months. The car when delivered had the oil level below refill, coolant below refill, all tyres at 24psi (34/37) and the engine bay apparently untouched from new. I was not amused, the subsequent feedback to Porsche GB secured me a 50% discount on the next service, a major. With 50% discount this still cost £588, about the same as my local indie. As the car is still quite new and as some people seem to think that a dealer stamp is relevant, I went ahead with the OPC. The service involved a plug change and thus removal of the rear valance and mufflers to expose the heat shields and plugs. I was contacted at this stage to be informed that the heat shields were corroded and replacement would cost £638, I told them not to bother and upon return to the garage priced the shields, around £87+ each, there are two. As the car was still on the ramp I asked to inspect the shields, they were fine being ally but a fixture from a steel bracket to the cats was broken / missing on each and obviously of no consequence or significance. I have since confirmed the price with the OPC which I find staggering especially as during the service the things were exposed. The only advantage over my indie were the receptionists, I will have to talk to them about this! OPC, never ever again.

That does indeed sound interesting - I'd like one somewhere else (underneath?) to see if they do all the work they're supposed to as well.Ah, corroded heat shields, that old chestnut eh? Surprised you didn't get the "heavy RMS oil leak" comment as well, Reading OPC told me this was a really serious problem on my car back in 2012, I countered that it was normal and have been using a drip tray in the garage ever since. So far i have caught one drip. Yeah, really heavy leak that, I really should have paid the £1,500 they wanted to fix it...

That does indeed sound interesting - I'd like one somewhere else (underneath?) to see if they do all the work they're supposed to as well.Since my last parking non-fault incident, all my cars are fitted with forward facing cameras and in case of the workhorse rear facing. They are relatively cheap, have been used in service disputes (
yes the service engineer was driving like a tit sir), stopped the workhorse diesel from being scratched etc etcWorth their weight in gold and at times very funny watch IMHO (for a sad git).

I agree. I am a big supporter of OPC's particularly Mid Sussex. Have never had any issues with them . service is always spot on. Yes they are costly but "you pays your money and takes your choice". I had a new Panamera Diesel for the day. Lovely car but vry big!
No issues', spot on? But how do you know if for example they told you that your heat sheilds needed replacing that it was true? Or the spark plugs were almost finished or the brake discs were down to the minimum?Or how about they charged as quoted but missed out the fact that your rear suspension coil was cracked or front suspension worn to one side etc?
