My car has suffered significant water ingress in the past as can be seen from the tide marks on the carpet in the drivers footwell. Sadly the emergency release is seized completely solid. However both the boot and passenger releases work perfectly.

What is involved in replacing the cable (both inner and outer)?

I just did my passenger one as it had been seized since I got the car.

I was replacing the full carpet set at the time. You should be able to just peel the leather away in the indent where the handle sits, remove the 4 self tappers that will allow the whole bracket to come free.

Next you will have to remove the trim or peel back with care, the access to the solinods. Drop the 3 Allan cap bolts so the whole assembly is workable, remove the old cable and fit a new one.

E bay 15 quid tops, just a example so measure up.

Works a treat

I should have said the 3 Allan caps in the door check, quite a fiddly job like most on a Tvr!

Checking your emergency release should be a monthly if not weekly check. If you are unfortunate enough to have a bump or an engine fire which knocks out the electrics from working you don't want to find out at that point you are trapped in the car. There is no climbing out through a window in a Cerbera (unless you are about 8 stone).

I have heard plenty of stories with people checking the door release and it coming off in their hands, pulling through or just seized like yours.

Check your emergency releases people!
