I've just been browsing through the some pictures of 993's and the RSR muffler site and noticed that most 993's have the sqaured off tail pipes whereas mine are more oval.

Square pipes:www.911virgin.com/993wkx2.jpg

Mine: www.counter-strike.org.uk/porker4sale/010504%20007.jpg

Now this has got me wondering which are standard.

Any help appreciated.

Cheers

The pictures aren't great to make the comparison, the standard 993 tailpipes are smallish ovals,,,the square ones you see are normally part of the optional "sound package"....square tailpipes and a different airbox.

From what I can see you have aftermarket largeovals fitted on yours.

They look similar to the Danske large ovals fitted to my car

Could be Dansk or even the expensive Porsche ovals, but definitely too short / mounted wrong, as Mel points out ;-)

Look on carnewal-europe.com, exhaust, 993 ..... could be the ovals, but look cheaper !

cheers, Maurice

Found this on 993faq.com

On about 85% of 993s one exhaust tip sticks out futher than the other.

There is only angle adjustment allowed with the flange clamp. It is possible to adjust the amount the tip protrudes by shifting the muffler, but there is not very much room for movement. The muffler clip only provides several mm of movement.

By adjusting the rotation of the tips you can make it "look" like they are the same. Meaning you can only make it look better but it probably won't be perfect.

Porsche oval chrome plated tips part no EP 7110.

I know the partno on the tips had EP but cant remember the number and its dark now so cant check, so I'm assuming its the porsche product, i'll confirm the part no tommorrow.

Paul,

yours definitely look wrong! They seem to point out at an angle which I have not seen before.

They should point straight out like this:

Surj - btw, great looking car!

Paul

I notice that your car has the heat shields installed around the appertures in the PU, did you fit these or were they on it when you bought it?

BTW, I think that your tailpipes are commonly known as wide ovals, could be a Porsche product but they dont look thick enough to be the ones to be the Motorsound Pack ones, which are £££! If they are TechArt or Gemballa they will have the logo cut into on the top, but yours dont stick out far enough to see.

Cheers!
