Mobile cameras? forwards or backwards?

Just a quick question, are the mobile cameras that the local plod poke out the back of there vans forward facing or do they get you from behind? i always thought they were front facing but i saw one the other day and i couldnt work out how it could of caught cars coming towards it as there was a high metal fence in the way.

Any ideas?

Thats how they can get bikes. if the bike is heading towards them they get the speed and turn round to note down the reg number. The video evidence is used to back up that it was indeed the bike in question.

I believe that the safety camera partnership were once going to power their vans off the operators sense of self-importance but planet earth couldnt take that sort of excess current...

thats handy to know, its just that i thought i might of got caught but i way have been getting the other people on the other side of the road. it was on small part of dual carridge way approaching traffic lights, and it was positioned on a paved bit inbetween the the two roads but there was a metal fence between me and him and the road dipps away down hill away from the camera. plus my number plate it really low on my car.

The true answer is "either way"

The operator can target traffic in both directions with just a slight movement of the laser and camera from side to side.

Prefered is from the front but the rear will do.
