The big one is coming up.

Nurgurgring was top of the list, and I had every intention of giving Dale a call and renting a Swift from Rent4Ring. Then I got all tied up with, Stage 1 or Stage 2, and the cost started to spiral. €200 seams a lot for a couple of laps. Anyone done the basic package, and what did they think of it? The €330 stage 2 4 laps, is where I think I'd like to pitch it if I went, but then add on hotels etc, and it'll be an expensive couple of days.

Then I thought, what about a supercar experience. Drop 300 notes on a lambo, fezza, aston event at Angelsea, then again I started to think 300 bucks is a lot of money for 9 laps. Again anyone done one, what did they think?

I used to be good at making choices like this. Must be my age.

I went to Bodyflight nr. Bedford. £12.50 a minute. So the stuff you're muling over is a relative bargain.*

*I didn't buy very many minutes.

I did the 'ring for my 42nd - had a Clio Cup which was great fun although to be honest I spent the entire time saying "I'm going to die I'm going to die I'm going to die".

Note : I didn't die

I'd imagine that by the time you've added fuel and travel and hotels it's going to be a lot more than your alternative suggestion (which will be over very quickly). By far the most stunning driving experience I had was with DreamCarHire - a day driving around the Cotswolds in a GTR, SLS, DB9, 12C, 458 and a bonkers Lamborghini LP570 Superleggera followed by a private tour of the Williams F1 museum.

Also Note : That was not a cheap day, but you're only 40 once so go for it (-:

I did the "ultimate" package here although there are cheaper options.

http://www.dreamcarhire.com/six-car-supercar-day.p...

We were basically given the keys and a destination and then let out on the roads, I was expecting it to be a strictly controlled procession! After lunch the head office had called the team and said "can you please ask the drivers to calm down, we've had 30 high speed warnings on the trackers and a top speed of 134mph"! It was last year and I've still not stopped smiling.

Have just checked and the costs are way over your original ideas so sorry about that, but still... do it anyway (-:

I've been to Nurburgring a few times, it is expensive. Especially if you drive 100mph + on route which is half the fun! we stay in Koblenz as it fairly big city

p.s. If you go be careful what you enter in the sat nav. Your title could see you on the other side of Germany

It's not cheap to drive the ring. You will want more than 4 laps. Do it, and do it properly is my advice.

This is what I fear. On the plus side I live in Austria and pass it 4 times a year.
