I guess you need some software to emulate a PC to get the Durametric kit to run on a Mac..
Durametric is almost certainly the most powerful/useful option but I find it rather expensive as I just want to play with it but theoretically, it might save me some cash one day.
Shame that they haven't obviously been able to develop it much over the past few years e.g. to make it wi-fi compatible possibly linked to an app. Theoretically, they could charge for using certain functions (such as resetting Airbag lights) rather than continue with the 3-VIN limit that they have on the *cough* cheap(er) version.
P.S. I read that Durametric were working on a Ferrari version but it never made it to production. Perhaps the Maranello lawyers paid them not to launch it!

The shortcoming of the OBD readers from the likes of eBay etc is they only give code data relating it things that can cause tail pipe exhaust emission faults. You will not get manufacture fault codes from them. If you have to take a car in to be looked at because you can't make head or tail of the information the code reader has given you and you clear the codes and hope the problem goes away you may make the diagnosis harder for the technician. Guess what the diagnostic charge may be dearer if this is the case. Nothing wrong with having a go yourself just know the limitations of the equipment you have purchased.
