Going to be changing this out but the fuel vapour line to the carbon canister has been crushed on my car, next to where the exhaust U-clamp is. (Someone had it turned the wrong way!) It's literally crushed to 1mm thickness in that one spot but fine everywhere else.

What, if any, symptoms might be attributed to this? I'm not really sure how the canister works to be honest. The fuel line here is also exhibiting signs of leaking further up, just in front of the rad.

Cheers guys

Take off the line and canister and bin it. It's not needed

I only discovered the carbon canister recently when changing the headlights. What is it supposed to do, and are there disadvantages to ditching it? Do you have to blank things off etc?

It is there for a reason . It allows the Petrol tank to breath without nasty vapours going to atmosphere

The vapours are released in to the plenum via a purge valve when the ECU tell it to .I`m not sure when, it might be at a certain rpm or load, over run or even cold start .

I ditched mine because it did nothing with the new ECU ,I just tie wrapped the fuel pipe next to the diff and fitted a K&N small breather .
