Discussion
Hi
I've just come across an SJ Suzuki with shot bodywork, A1 mechanics and only 4K on the clock for not a lot of money.
I seem to remember reading somewhere that a geep body can fit onto the chassis and running gear of one of these. Does anyone have any idea how straightforward a proposition this is? Presumably there is enough of the donor vehicle to be a re-bodying exercise and thus avoid the SVA. (or have things changed since I last looked?)
Cheers

Hi
There are currently several Jago's that are either on the road or in the process of being completed on the SJ chassis.
The first one (which there was a reasonable write up on in Transmissions when it was being done) is Jim Deeleys Suzi J.
Currently another member in Tyneside is doing a conversion including making the Geep look as close as possible to the Willys and I know of another one where the chap has made minor alterations to the Jago chassis to fit the Suzi running gear to that in place of using the Suzi chassis.
The most common practice is to retain the Suzi chassis and do any minor mods to allow the Jago body to fit onto this.
Currently (to my knowledge) such a conversion does not require and SVA as it is in effect just a body conversion. The registration document that is used is the one for the Suzuki as that is the "main" component of the vehicle.
