Who knew that buying a car was so bloody expensive

Ok, so maybe this is a bit of a rant, however I'm in the market for a new car - something for my road trip (as per my other thread). I found a few cars that were of interest and narrowed it down to 2 that I like.
So, rather than doing the "wats url best price init blud" on email, I pick up the phone to call the owners of these 2 cars.
Obviously I liked one more than the other as I was on the phone to them for 25 mins and 10 mins, however these ended up costing me £15 and £5 to call. So £20 for 35 mins of calling seems to me to be one hell of a lot of money!
Who exactly is profiting from this?

The company profiting the most is your mobile network - they are the one ramping up the charges.Vodafone makes several pounds off my every time I use my "unlimited" contract to call a freephone number
You expect to be charged when you dial a 08 number from your mobile to call British Gas (or whichever company you're calling), whereas one doesn't expect to be charged so much money to call someone to try to buy their car.

It costs them money when I call a landline. It costs them money when I call a mobile on their network. It costs them even more money when I call a mobile on another network. As I said, it's always been the case that you pay a s
t load to call 08* numbers from a mobile. It hasn't always been the case that you pay a st load when calling someone about a car for sale.Not only that, but the phonesafe numbers are the con that is 070* so people think it's just a normal 07* number but instead get raped on the call costs.

There were several massive rants on here about phonesafe recently. PH claim they dont make any money off it but I'm not convinced.
Phonesafe would massively put me off buying a car, I'm not going to waste £30 to ring someone, unless they are in the outer hebrides I would rather put the £30 in my car in fuel and go talk to the seller.

Personally i think its quite obvious that your are not calling a normal mobile number (phonesafe logo next to the number) and i either wouldn't use that number or i'd use a landline to call it.
