Chaps

A rare venture into to Ferrari board for me.

I am getting a itch - some 308s look like very good value at £30k-£40k. I guess a this level they are all metal bodied.

Are the GRP bodied cars now very sought after?

What is the general feeling on UK resale for LHD cars?

And is mileage over, say, 60,000 a problem?

I quite fancy buying a left hooker from Italy - where I expect they are thick on the ground.

Your budget is about £ 100 000 light for a fibre glass car according to the two other 308 threads in the past few days - mileage is not an issue

£140k for a GRP 308!!

Jeez.

Anyway, the LHD is the main thing for me.

I have no issue with LHD - I just wonder if the market will on resale in 3-5 years.

You'll always find a buyer for a 308. There are plenty enough here in the UK who don't consider LHD an issue and there are far too few available to make it a buyer's market. You'll also find a large pool of buyers in Europe who will happily take it off your hands.

Music to my ears.

I want to fly to Italy with the wife, buy a 308 for €30k, drive it back through the ALS, Switzerland, France etc, getting the garage, tidy it all up, sell it a year or three later and do it all again!

As previously mentioned - the market for these cars is European really, so if LHD doesn't bother you (it wouldn't me), then go for it.

Without wishing to curse myself, the 308 engine really is very well sorted and robust needing just routine maintenance to go on to do really high mileages. Mine has done 84K, runs beautifully, burns no oil and has great compression. I had to change the head gaskets at about 70K and rebuilt the heads whilst I was in there, but I suspect that was more to do with infrequent coolant changes earlier in the car's life rather than any inherent weakness.
