Do I need main beam flash to pass MOT ?
Discussion
going round in circles on this but from what I can see its not an MOT fail if my main beam flash is not working ? (note: dip and main beam on via stalk are working OK, its just flash which isn't..)
Also my front driving lights are not working at all - is this a fail ? (Im thinking it isn't, or I can remove them completely if so ...)
Any thoughts ? (is it PK500 whow's an MOT tester on here ??)

The stalk switch has a separate set of contacts that operate the flash function, it's not unheard of for the contacts to get bent inside the switch so that no matter how hard you pull the stalk, the contacts don't close. You can actually observe the contacts moving if you peer into the switch.
My 390 headlights do not raise if the headlamps are flashed, this has been the case since new so it can't be an MOT fail.
The lights will flash if they have already been raised - but what's the point?
The driving lights should flash but the driving lights have never been reliable so if a tester got arsey then I could remove them.

AFAIK if lights are fitted, they have to work
Err - sure on that? If I fitted a spotlight on the windscreen hoop for my kerb crawling, and the bulb went just before the MOT, it would be a fail?I've got a driving light on the Jeep that hasn't worked in 6 years, not even an advisory. Just fitted a bulb last week, in fact.
