Couple of hours tops? confused To a competent mechanic sure. But a DIY mechanic who's handy with the tools..? :/

It's just the way I think. I mean, if the engine mounts need changing, and the n/s manifold off, I might as well pull the engine to do them and at the same time find out where water is getting in. Also do the gearbox linkage/selector issue as well. I suppose I could get it all done in a month or two and still enjoy the remainder of the summer..
Speaking as a DIY bodger, engine mounts are really no biggie, put your manifold back on, thrash it for the summer and worry about water ingress next winter when it rains. cool

You don't need anything like 5 inches.

Undo the bracket off the engine and bring the whole lot out.
Split them on the bench. Paint the brackets and put them back in.
It can all be done in a weekend.

If you don't paint the brackets it's a couple of hours max.
