I imagine that almost all Carrera S' are left as Porsche intended. However, i specifically opted for a 4S because i have my old Turbo's BBS CH-Rs in the garage (the 4S being the same width as the Turbo). For them to look 'right', i think the car needs to be lowered too.

I've done a bit of searching and the idea of lowering a 911 seems to border on sacrilege! However - cards on the table - i am more bothered about the aesthetics and ride comfort than the nth degree of performance.

Bilstein seems to be popular, but there seems to be a lack of real-world experience. I know KW V3s seem to be a choice for many BMW owners when it comes to track day cars, but i do not want to the ruin the ride - i just want to remove the 'arch gap' with a good quality kit.

If anyone has any recommendations i'd really appreciate it!

Hi there

I would love to lower mine, but think it would just mess it up as I would not be able to lower at the front as it already catches speed bumps being an aero kit car and front ride height is perfect. Just the rear which looks a good 20mm or so too high. But just lowering the rear would probably upset the handling balance and induce more understeer.

I'n not sure which car you are asking about, but isn't it springs that usually lower a car?

Yes, having had a Turbo, you have to be careful on bigger slopes for sure! You'd have to therefore avoid certain petrol stations, etc.

To be specific it is a 997.2 4S. I am hesitant to just use lowering springs as it would mean the dampers are not being used as designed.

i had mine lowered when I had a Bilstein b16 clubsport kit fitted (i think it was 35mm but I could be wrong). Mine has the aerokit so everything catches the splitter but at least I don't have to stare at the range-rover style gap between the tyre and arch. Not sure if you can do it on the standard PASM kit...
