Need some help here. i,m in my 60,s and been a petrolhead all my life and dream car has always since following a Turbo Porsche in early 80,s in my lotus Cortina
Now i,m torn want to enjoy Porsche ownership but when i,m ready to pop me clogs need to ensure that ive left her indoors with some residual.
I have a SC500 Griff which i,ll never part with.
when i quit working in states i,ll bring back a 2013/2014 GT500 Super Snake which will be a fun car to have in uk and a souind buy in dollars.
But me Porkie.
Turbo i can stretch to 85K and would naturally go for a 997 GT2 but am torn between that and 997 gen 2 Turbo S.
i,ve heard so many conflicting stories etc about driving experience how involving GT2 is to Turbo etc PDK against manual etc. however think i.ve got me driving involvement cars with Griff and Shelby.
So i would appreciate anyones ownership experience of 996,997 S turbo or 996,997 GT2

I think you need to drive them yourself to decide what you prefer but having had a Griff 500 and driven an SOR Cobra Mustang (previous shape but 500bhp) I have to say I think you'll find that a GT2 is streets ahead of both in its abilities as well as driver satisfaction. OK, so the roof doesn't come off and it doesn't sound like a burbly V8 but it's a far far more accomplished car in pretty much all other respects.

A/C Porsche values are holding up very well to other models.
Just to think you can buy a Boxster now for under £5k
Maybe go to a few car shows, as well have a look at a few talk to the owners.

Sounds like budget is not too much of a big deal but would recommend a Boxster Spyder for a left field Porsche choice. With their being only 240 produced in th UK the demand will always be strong which is reflected in the residuals and the fact that with the correct spec they only take 1 or 2 days to shift when people put them up for sale.
A decent car from OPC will cost you anything from £35-£45k, however I would recommend the bucket seats so may be best that you can fit into them 1st otherwise the weight saving ethos of the Spyder goes.
Another alternative would be a 993/964 but they will require additional maintenance costs but the prices are always rising.

Cheers Marcus yes ive had 2012 550 bhp Shelby lovely bubbly any experience with 996GT2 they look good value for money or are they a cash sinkCheers Jim
