Does anyone have a good solution for car to pit telematics? I am looking to get the data from both my Race Technology DL-1 data logger and also Emerald K3 ECU from the car to the pit wall while driving. I have the CAN BUS to connect the two devices and basically have a serial RS232 output with all the data I need in the car. I then have the software on my laptop to interpret this in the pits.

Are there any products that exits to get this telematics data to the mechanics that isn't Formula 1 type level? I'm ideally looking for something that won't cost a fortune. It it allowed two-day comms, that would be ideal.

Sorry, I can't help you, but, where are you racing that allows 2 way comms?

You would have thought that these days technology is so cheap that there's no reason to disallow such things.

It's not about the cost, it's about the arms race of people and controls then used by true 2 way telemetry.

China. I live in Hong Kong and race in China.

Looking at the 750 Roadsport regs today though, there's no rule there about coms either though.

Looking at your profile; does the MG Metro cup really have rules on pit to car coms?

For those of us in the UK the MSA say we are not allowed any form of radio comms from the car in normal circumstances.
(I just double checked, 2013 blue book section Q, 8.1.10, page 265. I'm not aware of any big changes for 2014).

I guess that's not relevant to you though.

Ah, OK. Yes, it does not apply to racing in China.

It seems odd that they specifically exclude radio comms. Does that mean you can use other technologies like GSM phones? Sorry - I'm not familiar with the MSA regs.

Also, if I was racing in the UK, whilst I might not be allowed telematics in the race, they would still be something I would think were useful on practice days. If my engine builder could see the ECU outputs while I'm driving, it would allow tuning while on track. Also, being able to see the DL-1 output on the pit wall and being able to get coaching from that while I drive could be very useful.
