Safeguarding deposits

I'm going to book a car in for some work and have been asked for a deposit at the point of a firm booking.
That's fine and I have no concerns about the people or company but as its going to be 8 weeks or so before the car goes to them I feel it would be a good idea to safeguard this money somehow. It would be a shame to roll up and find the place empty with money paid out and no work done.
Any suggestions?

Does your credit card not protect you from this? I got refunded when an easy jet hotel went bust via them.

Why do they want a deposit? Is there something they need to do before you arrive?

Just their policy. They're busy so want commitment of work in that slot otherwise its wasted time on their part.
I can see that and I'm happy enough.
