M25 speed cameras

As somebody who uses the M25 fairly regularly, am I the only one to think the variable (mainly 50mph) speed limit actually helps/works/improves the flow? The only time the flow of traffic seems to break is when a car chooses to ignore it and tries to weave in and out causing people to brake.
I also find the stretch of the M6 between Bescot and the M54 turn off, works really well if the speed limits are deployed.
With all that in mind, I kind of hope more people get caught on the cameras...

I agree they do improve traffic flow at busy periods though.
[sensible hat]Playing devils advocate, they could have been switched on during the busy period (rush hour) but traffic at that point had died down? AFAIK the speed limits aren't instantly updated to match the exact flow of traffic, it's getting pretty close though on newer stretches of managed road.[/sensible hat]I agree they do improve traffic flow at busy periods though.

That'ssort of the point of the variable limits! If you stick to them, you should never catch up with the queue that's formed up ahead, so your average speed will be the same but you won't be doing either 70 and 10 mph, you'll just be doing a constant 50. In theory anyway.kmpowell said:

Just because they were flashing, doesn't mean they were issuing tickets. Several of them have been flashing for a long time now and I've never heard of anyone getting an NIP.
No, but I was reading somewhere that Surrey police were taking over policing of the part of the M25 and their policy was to turn them on.I only posted as a heads up. I drive that section a lot and have not seen them flashing as much as they were this morning.
