Boost Gauges

I have a Dragon Gauge boot gauge coming into my car which needs recalbrating. A, what's the best way of doing this? Or alternatively shall I swap it out for a like for like replacement, which leads onto my next question, how can I tell which is which?

The only way to calibrate any form of pressure gauge is to compare it against a gauge of known accuracy, its not something that you could easily do at home.

I read that and though "what's a boot gauge"....

Ah. It's completely out, its saying I get a maximum on -0.1 bar of boost, and when idling I have off the bottom. Can upload a photo to show?

Tells you how much space you have left in the boot, obviously.

Probably actually more useful than a boost gauge, thinking about it.

Best way would be to find an instrumentation engineer. Plenty about, and something as easy as that they shouldn't charge much.

Cheap way I'm sure you could put something together with a big plastic syringe full of air, a bottle of water, a calculator and a few hoses.

If you've a smartphone, you could just buy an ELM327 or similar (bluetooth ODBII interface) from ebay/amazon (circa £4) and check what the ECU in your car thinks the boost level is.
It works perfectly well in my car, with various apps including "torque" which is quite a popular one.

The one I have is quite a small form factor, blue transparent plastic one. It's small enough to fit in the OBD port of my BMW with the OBD cover closed over it, and I ran it like that when I was playing with this. Other ones come in different sizes.

The cheapest I could find the reader is £2.68 delivered from China via a company called DealXtreme (aka Banggood and various other names).
