I have just done a hpi check on a car i'm looking to purchase tomorrow it has thrown up two things. The car in question is a BMW E46 M3 2003

- Interest registered against a previous plate

"previous plate used on car" was applied to this vehicle on 09/02/2004
This VRM has been recorded as having an outstanding finance agreement
An outstanding finance agreement was recorded on 21/03/2013 against a A6 SAL 20TDI SLN 4D MT

"the number plate of the car im buying" was applied to this vehicle on 25/04/2003
There are no interests recorded against "the number plate of the car im buying"

- Data currently held on the national mileage register indicates that there may be a mileage discrepancy on this vehicle.

Mileages as recorded by the National Mileage Register
Date recorded Recorded by Mileage reading Total
25/Apr/2003 NMR 5
08/Nov/2005 NMR 26,000
16/Dec/2005 NMR 26,000
16/Dec/2005 NMR 26,400
28/Dec/2005 DVLA 27,000
15/Aug/2006 NMR 26,000
01/Jun/2009 DVLA 45,000

What should I do? the car itself looks mint condition any help would be so helpful. Thanks in advance

Try and verify the outstanding finance is first job. What's the current owners story?

Not sure, Am I right when i say because it is a previous plate and that previous plate has finance outstanding on a different car (audi a6) then its not attached to the bmw m3 im buying, the plate that is currently on the m3 has no outstanding finance

Regarding the mileage, im at odds? the last recorded milage from dvla is 2009. Yet it has an mot till November and on the advert it states mileage at 68K?

The car previously had a private plate - the car with that private plate currently is an Audi A6 which has outstanding finance.
I wouldn't worry about the mileage - it looks like it was traded around for a few months in 2005, and they just used estimated mileage figures. Just check that the MOT history backs up what you'd expect.
There is nothing there that would put me off.

Hopefully someone can shed some light What I don't understand is he said the car has an MOT till November 2014. If that is the case wouldn't there be a DVLA Mileage entry on November 2013?

The last mileage recorded on the HPI was 2009!

I didn't think MOT mileage is entered on the registered - I thought it was just on change of keeper, including going between traders. Could be wrong though.

That 26k on the miles before the 45k could easily have been 36k and a mistake...

MOTinfo.gov should give some information on the car too.
