Had this discussion last week with my TVR guy.
He had been recommended Royal Purple Synchro Max by a gearbox builder of his acquaintance
My T5 only has 84500 on the clock, so my choice may not be appropriate.....hehe
But I do take it on the track, which might be more relevant.

So far I have found the gear change smoother and more accurate, but of course that is a subjective judgement, and it is by a degree, not a totally revolutionary change.

Only problem with the stuff is the cost - you will need three quarts (yes, it's a yank product, where they design oils to be put in and forgotten), which will cost you around £70 delivered.

+1

The World Class T5 (which was the only T5 in Chimaera's) does not take oil - You MUST use ATF.
The fibre backing on the syncro rings will likely detach if you use anything else!!!

This can be a touchy subject on here but personally I have tried a few different brands of ATF (which as stated on here previously is a very good and versatile oil/fluid call it what you will) these transmissions were certainly designed to run on ATF no question. However the lubricant I am using at the moment is Castrol VMX and so far it is shifting better than it ever has. Castrol is a well respected company who know far more about lubricants than I do and they recommend VMX for gearboxes designed to run on ATF so I am trusting there advice that it will be fine for the fibre balk rings and also lubricate the various needle roller and taper roller bearings in the box. I have covered around 8000kms on this product so far and all good. I might do some research on the royal purple that QBee is using, I know they make respected products so would be good to try some and do a comparison. It's up to you if you are happy with the way it performs on ATF then by all means stick with it. It's the safe option.
