PAS upgrade completed
Discussion
Hi All
A quick update on my powered steering upgrade.
I am seriously pleased with the outcome. The car feels exactly the same to drive once hoofing along at speed. But at parking speeds and on roundabouts it's transformed
I now it's not everyone's cup of tea but I like it. Its nowhere near as lite as modern PAS which is good. I can now start playing with my tyre pressures to get it a bit less firm up front.
If anyone is interested I'm happy to do a few pics of what is involved.
But basically you need the following.
Cortina 2.3 PAS rack from Kiley Clinton £200 plus Vat
Citroen Saxo VTR pump with wiring loom £50 ish eBay
Hoses 20 quid each?
The only problem you will encounter is you will need a new lowere steering column to rack link rod and UJ as this will be shorter than the one fitted on a manual car. Kiley Clunton will make you one for £60.
You will need to make a mounting bracket for the pump but that's about it.
All done for around £350
That's over double what the Corsa electric conversion would cost you. But it doesn't involve cutting and welding your sterling column.
