I fitted a new powerspark fuel pump which I've tested on a direct 12 volt feed & it runs fine, however when connected up I get the noise of the pump running when energised for a few seconds (as expected) but no fuel flow ? I checked the flow from the tank & all is well it just seems the power is getting to the pump temporarily but having disconnected pump outlet to filter & connected a free ended hose to test, no fuel plowing. My neighbour & I have been mucking about with this for a couple of hours & can't work it out, any suggestions please as still want to get to Burghley tomorrow !

For future advice ,never do any work on your car a day before ,I have learned the hard way a few times .

I would junk the power spark and fit Bosche/Lucas .

Nip out a get a relay or check fuses . Sounds like it is priming so I could be the relay .also check you have a good ground .

Don't take this the wrong way but you've not left a bung or cap in the pump inlet have you?

Fuel pump relay in footwell has a blue socket. Hope to see you at Burghley. Want to see your clutch mod as done by John.

Thanks to all chaps, no bungs or clamps as have had pump running off direct 12v feed & all ok, so have narrowed it down to power / earth on car. I have a look at the relay as this seems to fit symptoms. P.S. don't usually leave things this close but if I was a plumber I'd always have afternoons off as a result of charging punters a full day for 4 hours work !!! Couldn't resist. No clutch mod on mine suspect you may have the wrong Richard ! Still hoping for tomorrow though !

Changed relay, still no go, now given up for the night, getting pretty pissed off now, mainly because I'm sure its something simple, still did get last corner shock & brakes refitted, rear arb & new drop links on and made up & fitted a couple of brake pipes. Pretty sure I'll make Burghley, but not in TVR mad Tempted to get up early tomorrow & have another go, including reversing connections as suggested - if that's the solution I'll be happy & depressed in equal measure. Thanks again chaps as ever for your advice & support.

Have you wired it the right way round? or maybe you blew a fuse . The suppressor block comes off the live not ground .

Trust me on this one, the feeling of relief when it fires up, quickly banishes all thoughts of feeling like a pillock for missing such a simple fix.......Nip back in to the garage and give a go...
you can have a nice lay in then tomorrow, and still make Burghley in the TVR clap

Hi,
when I bought a replacement fuel pump it was identical except the + and - terminals were switched around. I had to open up the 6mm female spade connector on the loom to fit the 8mm male spade on the pump; and close up the 8 mm connector on the loom to fit the 6mm spade connector on the pump. Luckily I noticed this before fitting.

Thanks again chaps & sorry about my plumber comment earlier Daz. Nipped back into garage last night & now feel happy & depressed - terminals the wrong way round !!! Will be at Burghley but not in TVR as then found a fuel leak, I summise that as the new fuel pump is rated at 3 bar the standard 2.5 bar fuel reg can't cope so will need to fit uprated fuel reg, any views welcome.

Also still needed to refit a brake pipe, bleed system & refit bonnet so reluctantly gave in, sorry chaps. I'll try & catch up with as many of you as I can, will be in green Mini Cooper S Countryman (the wifes !).

Did remove the reg, if so did you change the sealing grommet on the original reg, they quite often split and/or don't pull in straight on those little fiddly bolts.

I can`t see it`s going to be a problem ,the fuel is just going around the circuit faster and the regulator will just take what it needs .

I must sound like a stuck record but thanks again chaps.

Andy, I did remove reg when changing injectors & cleaning up fuel rail but didn't change seal, I'll do that next along with checking that fiddly short fuel line behind the plenum - again !

Daz having thought about it & talking to John Halstead earlier I'm sure you're right & the existing reg will be fine, thanks. I did see your car at Burghley but not you unfortunately. I realised after my earlier comment about getting to meet up at Burghley that, apart from Daz, Nick & John H, Peter & Chilli I've either never met you before or can't remember enough faces from the washout at the Pod & therefore wouldn't recognise you unless you were with you cars at the time of passing. Still, there'll be another time.

Ha ha, stop your moaning, at least you haven't got the stepper in the way now,
I hate the fuel reg bolts, do them up a couple of turns each alternately. Order a handful of seals as you won't find them in any O ring sets, IIRC they are the same as the injector seals.
