Other alternatives to BMW coolant?
Discussion
BMW sell their own brand engine oil, but I buy Castrol Edge, because it performs better (as seen on a few tests....brief one showing soot deposits upon heating, the Castrol had far less)......is there an alternative to BMW coolant?
Annoyingly, BMW only sell in 1.5L bottles, I need 7-8litres of the stuff to make up the 14-15 litres in my cooling system! Is there a decent alternative I can order online? I don't want anything inferior, just something as good as, or better than.
Many thanks

Just found this
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Comma-XSG5L-Xstream-Antifr...
Seems to be reasonably cheap (5L for £22 or so, yet 1.5L of the BMW stuff is around £10) and protection is the same for freezing points (-36 celcius when diluted to 50%)

Put your car's details into Comma's Product Finder:
http://www.commaoil.com/products
It will come up with the correct antifreeze for your vehicle. Comma's antifreeze formulations are as good as BMW OEM stuff, if not better.
I have BMW's full workshop TIS data in which they list a wide range of different anti-freeze manufacturers' products that meet its criteria.
I use Comma coolant in my E39 M5. It's great value and does the job.

Fantastic, that looks like the stuff I've found. Reckon I'll be using that, the G48. Cheers for that mate.http://www.commaoil.com/products

Hi can I use g48 xstream anti freeze and coolant Concentrate as a top up. I think it’s the same colour as the one I got in there already. But now it’s says that my coolant is low. So I bought the g48 xstream but don’t know if I can use it to top it back up. HELP
Don't know what car you have, so follow the advice above ie. put your registration number into the Comma application finder and it will tell you whether G48 is the correct coolant for your car. Comma application finder: http://www.commaoil.com/products
If it specifies another type of coolant, don't put G48 into the cooling system of your car. Better safe than sorry.
