Having had the gearchange wreck the original rear grill I was wondering if there is a modified rear connector arm available? Looking at the rear link it could be shortened to clear. Before I go and modify it how have you all done it?

Not had a problem with mine and not heard of this since the Sport which I believe had a bulge in the grill.

Have discovered it's fitted with a G50-50 Box which is 25mm longer hence the problem. Looks like I'll be out with the hacksaw tonight.....

To saw what? Have you asked 'The Factory' if they already have a solution.

I thought that you mounted the engine 25 mm further forward using spacer plates if you used that box (or the G50/52)??

I thought it was something like that and am sure you are right.

the g50/50 also comes in a short version. not sure if the long end can be swapped with the short.

Not sure about the shorter rear box section. Can't see how this would work because of the rear chassis mounting? Looking at the linkage it'll be easy to modify, just needing the flat plate re-locating to be flush with the front face of the "boss" i.e. in front of the retaining nut. The rear linkage rod will then have to be shortened by the same amount as the flat plate is moved forward as well. Shouldn't be too bad.

What's the difference with the G50/50?

that factory sells a different mounting kit for the short boxes. It's probably easier and cheaper to mod yours, but if it doesn't work the shorter box may be an option.

Don't think you can do that. When the linkage moves forward I think the boss is almost touching the housing so you cannot take anything of the end of the shaft unless you also reduce the length of the boss.

Far better to use the engine mount spacers.
It may have been the same spacers used back to front that CJ used to move his engine backwards.

I'll modify the plate with a clearance hole for the boss. This will then be welded over, thus not beyond, the front face of the boss.

Trust me, I'm an engineer
