I am selling a car on eBay for the first time. It was listed this evening and sold before I could even look it up! Then a message arrives from the buyer asking for location of vehicle and a phone number but no mention of payment.

I don't know if this is normal for eBay but it occurs to me that the car is now unlisted and this guy is the only prospect. FYI I had a reserve on the car and said I expect payment by PayPal.

Have any of you been in this situation?

Don't accept PayPal for a car.

By all means request a deposit via PayPal with the rest in cash on collection. What's stopping them claiming undeceived goods and starting a chargeback, leaving you without either the car or cash?

Absolutely. Couldn't agree more. Plenty of nasty buggers out there.

Definitely do not take paypal as payment.

Very suspicious that they bought it so fast too...

Maybe you just underpriced it.

Thanks for the advice.

The price is good but its only a spare or repair listings. It was sold so damned fast it just seemed like a red flag.
