Large police operation on derby a50 yesterday

Does anyone know what was going on yesterday, we drove past a van (looked like a camera van holes at the back doors) and 3 police cars and a police bike and further down the road another police car pulling someone over.

Obviously sounds like speed camera but then why bother with all the police as letters in the post etc.

Probably pulling people over for tax / insurance discrepancies rather than speed.
