Does this quote seem about right?

Just been quoted £450 to get to key scratches sorted out on my MK2 MR2. One scratch is on the rear quarter and the other is on the drivers door. Both are down to the primer. The colour of the car is red. Does this seem ok?

Maybe, but I'd expect an absolutely perfect job for that - whole panel resprayed and colour matched etc.

What is he actually doing for that ? painting the rear three quarter and the door ? Metallic or solid colour ?

Im not actually sure to be honest. This was a quote from a well known smart repair company who said that the damage was to much to be sorted at the side of the road so they would take it to one of their body shops. I assume that means that they will be spraying both panels? Im still waiting to hear back from a body shop that I know to see what they come up with.

I think its expensive then.

The front of my car is peppered with stonechips, I've just booked it in and he's going to do front bumper, bonnet, wings, lose it in to the doors and also the front of the roof (chips there too!). He's also going to lacquer the entire panel rather than try and touch that in. Agreed for £700. He'll have to take the wings and bonnet back to bare metal, they're that bad!

Might be worth sticking this in your regional area part of the forum, finding a good body shop is tough. Matching red is always a problem due the way it fades so I would want someone I could trust.

I made the mistake with one of the scratch repair companies with a yellow car and it wasn't a great match. Asked around locally and found a small body shop out in the sticks not far from me that a few people recommended and he did a great job.

I've always budgeted on £150-200 per panel depending type of damage and colour.
