My car was in for a water pump and cam belt change and when they took it out for a test drive apparently someone went into the side of it, I saw the damage which seemed to just be the rear passenger side door and front of the wing which needed changing. My question is how would I know if this has gone down as a cat d and they are just fixing it or if I'm going to end up with a car that was perfectly fine now being worth sweet FA? What should I be asking or looking for since none of it has gone thru my insurance as I wasn't driving????
Any help with this really appreciated, not picked it up yet but it's due back from body shop this week some time...

You'll know it's Cat D as instead of getting a car back, you'll get a cheque instead.

Correct.

Little clues like that should give the game away.

I just wanted to know if there was a way they could pocket the cash as it was their insurance and this woman's not mine then give me back a fixed up cat D? Or does it go to the registered keeper?

Why did they feel the need to test drive it?

How else would they test it properly?
