Cayenne vs RRS vs ML vs X5

I'm in the market for a new 4x4 and really can't make my mind up on which one I should go for. I realise there are pros and cons to each option, but usually one stands out above the rest for me. In this instance I think its between the RRS and Cayenne.
But... I hear horror stories about Land Rover reliability and poor dealer service. I really don't want to be visiting the dealership on a regular basis - is this a myth or is it as bad as some would have you believe?
And... The Cayenne appears to be an excellent proposition, but I'm not sure I can get over its looks. It's a damn ugly machine!
The ML and X5 are dark horses I've not really considerd seriously (yet).
Anyone with any experiences of going through this selection process? Would welcome views and comments...

Each to their own opinions but I love looks of our Cayenne. Wife has 2013 new shape RR Sport. RR is more luxurious and Cayenne far more Sporty. Incidentally RRS infotainment feels old compared to Cayenne even though RRS was brought out post Cayenne.But... I hear horror stories about Land Rover reliability and poor dealer service. It's really down to personal preference - when I was looking I ended up in a Q7 as it was the most car like to drive out of them all that came in a diesel. I found the RRS a bit low rent inside and the FFRR far too wallowy for me.
X5 was nice but similar to other BMW's inside and I have had a lot of them so wanted something different. XC90 & Toureg are other possibilities.
As with all of these threads, get a couple of days off and arrange test drives of them all back to back to help make up your mind - if I hadn't done that there is no way I would have bought a Q7 especially with the stigma attached to them on here but it ended being exactly what I wanted.
X5 was nice but similar to other BMW's inside and I have had a lot of them so wanted something different. XC90 & Toureg are other possibilities.

Cayenne does look very nice but for me it was needing seven seats and those in the Q7 are far more useable than in the X5.
They are all high running cost and big depreciation machines so do you realy need to buy new as for example my Q7 with every box ticked and the Bigger 4.2v8 tdi with 16,000 miles was a saving of 37k from new so just over half price.

Thanks for your replies, I guess the Cayenne divides opinion. Good point on taking the time to test drive them all and make my decision on my own preferences.
And on buying new I'm thinking about leasing, but have no problem looking at something 1-3 years old and buying used. Again I'll need to look into the various options and see what's best value for me.
