Help needed please somebody. Battery died yesterday and called breakdown as I was stuck miles away. Went to Halfwits and bought 072 battery which I was told was the correct fitment. Got back and we couldn't fit it in as it was too tall to squeeze between the block and the front wing - about an inch taller than the existing Varta.

Does anyone know what is the correct battery (or am I just being a girl about squeezing it in?). Was considering an optima - These only come in one size from memory. If I dont go for that then what is the best option?

I had the same problem at a locl motor factots, then I contacted Advanced Battery supplies of Stockport (0800 195 9897) who brought a van load of batteries to my house! The ideal one was an 069. This was slightly smaller but had the terminals the right way round and gives more current when you start but less reserve (so I'm told). ABS have depots in other parts of the country and you can drive to them for a fitting which will confirm it fits.

I thought the same when I got a battery last month.
Luckily I didn't buy the Halfwits one and went to Motorworld and got a Lucas 069 instead. Took about 25 minutes to do the complete swap and it fitted perfectly.

I had a nightmare getting a new battery - took three visits to the local battery place before simply asking my indie TVR garage to sort it for me. Make sure you get one with the recessed terminals

Buy a Optima Yellow top! They fit snuggly and are lighter and more efficient and longer lasting and produce a very stable current all the way down to flat! (I dont work for Optima )

Those Optima are blinking expensive tho Ash!

My preferred cerbera choice is a varta unit, but you have to modify the sliding base plate under the battery to get it in tho .. for 70 quid it's the best value for money battery i've found

I know the optimas are very good. I had two yellow tops in my old car when I was a yoof with an ICE-fix. Do they fit easily?

Hmmm... you got a point there...

but its like buying a top notch toothbrush and then using a regular basic toothpaste... ( was that a good metaphor? hmm... )

Varta are superb - used to have one in the first cerb - did the job perfectly and lots of amps for the money too...

Surely the 32" Kenwood sub is goin to slow the beast down. No wonder you need 3000bhp!

I wanted to fit out a 'pukka' sound system - but now my boot is dissapearing - I'll be stuck with my tiny speakers and music that is already hard to hear - non existent - when all the pumps and blower
whine and 11000+cfm cooling setup and 6litre engine noise and straight through exhaust noise startup - I'll have to get some ear plugs....
