Every day I see a handful of new posts stating "I've bought a D70!" and all the while i'm still sat here, skint, and still shooting on F70 film SLR's. So, to preserve my sanity, i'm going to revert to calling you all a bunch of b**tards!

OK then - I would have bought a D70.

But I didn't get round to it, as everyone knows I've been watching the prices fall like some tight geezer. And now I don't have any work after mid December.

So can I join the "Mad-Dave-You-re-All-Lucky-B-Stds" Club please? I won't be able to justify switching for a little while longer, plus I love using my F90X (and to a certain extent the F100) anyway.

Run of the mill digital camera user here - no funds or licence from the Procurement and Entertainment Dept. to go an buy a DSLR either

Of course you can. Current membership fee is £849

re Film camera's - I shot a couple of rolls on my old Minolta X700 the other day, and I have to say I really enjoyed it. I did get quite annoyed after a while as I kept touching the release gently expecting it to autofocus! I also kept lining up my shot perfectly, pressing the shutter and realising I hadnt wound it on to the next frame! After a while I stuck a motor winder on the bottom to remedy this! It was very nice to use though, and having fixed lenses meant I had F2.8 to play with, rather than the F3.5 of all my telephotos!

Oh, re D70, just seen that EBuyer are doing the 18-70 kit for £730inc VAT, so the membership fee mentioned above can be dropped Prices are still tumbling though so hopefully after christmas ill be able to afford one!

I know, but whats good's a body without a lens?

Oh, and if anyone is thinking "ill get the body, then get the lens at a later date" (like I did), you might be interested to know that the lens that comes with the kit is £279 on its own! It also translates into 27-105mm in 135 terms, hence I want it - to replace the 28mm lens that will become useless when I get the D70.

The D70OC ('D70 Owners Club') has only two membership criteria:
Either 1) You have a D70
Or 2) You promise to buy one within 3 months!

We have a football match against the COC (work it out) which should be a 12:0 walkover as they'll all be on the touchline taking pix

All you talking of owning SLR's never mind dSLR's. I'm still using my Canon A70.

Can't beat it neither, only cost me £40 at the time

Mine suffices for what I want to do at the moment, so while as I'd like an SLR, I don't really have a use to justify the cost

Plus with my digital I can take "snaps" and not worry about developing - I simply couldn't afford a dSLR yet

Still, my pictures are alright
