So I am planning on buying a spare set of winter tyres this summer. Not to use them now of course! But ideally secure some for a better price than if I waited until winter.

Which places are selling these online? Or even abroad in Europe? I wanted to get some quotes before I just ask my local tyre fitters to order some.

Thanks all smile

http://lovetyres.com is another one, but it's very unlikely you'll find proper online retailers offloading winters now. All the stock would have been fresh last year, some bought with a return to manufacturer option.

Given the margins most of these guys make is less than a tenner a tyre, they'd rather sit on them until next year.

A smarter place would be ebay, to find some nearly new winters someone has taken off but doesn't want to store.

Just taken my winters off and was glad to! Def get a set but wait until temps are constantly below 10 degrees. Was on a PH run recently and temps were about 15 degrees, understeer was terrible!! Now back to fun driving with summers on! smile

Thanks for the links guys.

Of course I will be storing them for winter use. I have brand new Pirelli summers on right now. The Pirelli Sottozeros I want will be put on around November.

So what month do you think would be best to purchase from a retailer?

Is the saving really worth having to store them 7 months? Just buy them a short while before the rush...

Storage is no issue. I have a large empty corner in a totally unused garage.

Then really you should be buying another car...

I used them for my Winter's and it all worked fine.

Don't know anything about them but I saw http://www.tyreleader.co.uk on another forum recently and they looked cheap on a couple of sizes I tried.

Bought two sets of winters from them. Good price.

I bought a set of Part worns on eBay. They were Michelin Alpins and had 6mm on all four. I paid a fraction of the new price (£200 for a set instead of £165 ea)

+1 on this. April time everyone is pulling the winters off and sticking them on eBay.
