Choices, choices Ferrari 430 Scuderia or New 991 GT3

Any feedback from owners of either or both welcome. Looking for long term keeper, will be used sparingly as I live and work overseas. Don't want a bath if i need to sell in 5 years.
I bought a new 997 GT3 in Dec 2010 but lost my shirt 10 months later and my local supplying Dealer Reading wouldn't even bid me for high spec car with 800 miles on clock. Left bad taste in mouth after all the hype over rarity and resale. Sold it as couldn't get on with road noise and ride.
Swapped above for a 2008 599 GTB, loved it and had for 2 years. Lost 2/3 what I did on 911 and owned 2 & 1/2 times as long. Didn't cost penny outside of oil services. Sold as not using and felt longer term prices will fall. Epic car and very special fell

Want to put something special in my store for long term. I hear new 911 GT3 more refined and quieter than 997. Must admit like sound of PDK. Resale worries me. 430 Scuderia seems to have rave reviews and solid investment potential.

I have a Maserati GranTurismo S for comfort trips so OK with something raw.

So any experiences from owners welcome. Im back in UK in 4 weeks and have cash burning a hole!

Owners experience will be limited at the moment, as every new GT3 built is currently off the road awaiting a new engine! I assume you know of this?

Hi yes aware but hoped some have put miles on. Ive tried Reading to see if they have demo but got offered Turbo to drive. Not the same thing if my experience of Turbo and GT3 versions of 997 anything to go by.

GT3 is an awesome piece of kit, but from what you have said about your prior experience, you will probably find the same will happen on the Porsche.
I would guess the Scud would be the better option for short and long term. They have already taken a hit as it is an older car and may drop a bit more when more 458 Speciale arrive, with owners trading 430, but would expect them to start slowly climbing in the next 5 years.

Sorry, had to have a giggle at your "asked Reading if they had a demo" after you said you were aware that ALL cars have been put on a no drive advisory. Can you imagine the Reading chronicle headlines .. "Test drive ends in flames"
They are epic cars, not had an opportunity to drive a scud yet but having spent the weekend in a 3.8RS it made the 991 feel like a big impreza, very fast, but very sterile in comparison to the older car.

If you found the road noise/ride too high on a 7.2 GT3 I can't see how the scuderia would not be at least as bad in that respect if not worse. the scuderia is a bloody fantastic car to drive though, far far more special than the 599 GTB IMO but in all honesty I am not sure I couldn't say the 7.2 GT3 was a better car still as a pure drivers car.

I think the OP may find the Scuderia too noisy and extreme if he didn't like the 997 GT3.

Lamborghini Gallardo is looking very interesting at the right price. With the new Hurrican thing costing £220k or more, I think Gallardos are pretty solid buys and not likely to lose much money either.

I you don't want to lose loads of cash buy the Scuderia.

My 360CS has shot up in value and an epic driving car.

If your only doing low mile too.

Aware of issues but my request of Reading was made early April for an end of May visit, was hoping they might have a car on road by that time being importer.

I would go for the Scud if it were my choice.

Your best bet, once the GT3 comes back to life, would be to request a test drive plus from Reading at the experience centre in silverstone, they will certainly have a car and you will be able to drive on the short track and road.
