In weight terms only, yes.

But then there's the
- seats
- rollcage
- A pillars
- interior trim
- headlights

that were all changed on the introduction of the 'Lightweight'.

I beleive the top front section was thinned a little and due to or because of this the sun visors were removed.

Yup, they flattened the bar above the windscreen and moved it further back (and deleted sun visors) to reduce the 'letterbox' effect.

Still, I know where there's a nice 4.5LW that is for sale...

Do any RR LW's exist, if so are they factory built, i.e. initially built as such?
I keep thinking of my next trev, had mine two & half years now & it'll soon be time to start preparing for the next one ( sometimes i think that's my fave part!)

I think all Red Rose conversions are on 4.5LW; some are built from new as such, others converted at a later date by the factory.

There shouldn't be any difference between an initial build and a converted RR.

Yep fairly sure they do and came from the factory.

450tvrbhp as opposed to the standard 420tvrbhp

They had the octane switch didnt they?

I've often wondered if the doors, bootlid and bonnet are lighter because they are thinner or because they use vinylester resin (a la T350R) in the laying up.

If its the latter, why not the entire car?

Though if it only made 50kgs of difference in the T350...

See my profile

Dunno about 450bhp but I'm told (by Andy @ APM) that it feels noticeably faster than a standard 4.5.

350 real bhp vs 400ish. But noticeably sharper response and better midrange too. And no loss of sounds effect

Theres no difference. Its a con!
A decent 4.5 with Joo let loose on it for a week will leave you with a RRR smasher...
Has anyone actually taken a lightweight car and put it on a scale to see what its real weight is? I dont think so.

The alternative approach is a lightweight pilot !

Having read this tread, I'm determined to loose 10kg from my car before Christmas

There are rumours it was actually slightly heavier

I presume that's over the original quoted TVR kerbweight rather than an original 4.5 though...

SXS - RR a con?! Don't talk cobblers!! Let's wait and see what an RR makes with a few of these Joo/Austec type tweaks (new injectors and a remap most likely) in the new year first shall we

As for light weight my car weighs 1227Kg with about 3 quarters of a tank of fuel.
