A good day on the rollers
Discussion
Well I spent the afternoon with Ed from Fusion at the last session (almost) on the rollers at Surrey rolling road with Charlie at the helm and Ed on the laptop before their move to Farnborough.
After a couple of hours and another fuel regulator we topped off the session with a road test and some minor tick over adjustment, when we started the timing was out by 10 degrees and was running very rich indeedy, by the time we had finished I was happy and we're the boys.

Not bad for a normally aspirated motor.
Cheers all, Wooly.

Good numbers, I would be really interested in what you have done to the stock Serp motor to get through the 300 barrier? I am guessing you have an after market Management system and lumpy cam? I have stayed with the stock 14CUX and AFM on the Gredge but done a lot of work on the heads / valves and general induction but I am still just short of 300 with my 287 BHp and 314 Ft lbs. Any info would be appreciated fella

No Adam, had the thought the other day when sat in the sunshine in my tdi skoda, why not bung a 2.0 tdi Audi engine in a wedge, reliability, more bhp than the ford 2.8 engine, bags and bags of torque, good mpg, you just have to live with the diesel rattle, although some diesels do sound pretty good. Would cost a lot to do it, but I wouldn't mind doing it to Delilah if I had the money

Must say when Tobs has taken his old fella out for a blast in his fabia, dunno what is the cause but internal circulation does take a turn for the worse, perhaps its coz I'm not at the helm but its bloody quick and very torquey so I can see where he's coming from. Cost however would be a no no I'm sure so don't worry the bladder too soon zig.
As far as mine goes the improvements I personally can make would be to limit exhaust heat to air intake transfer although with the power steering its tight to route things easily, do away with power steering altogether, lighten the flywheel perhaps but that's grief again getting the engine and gearbox apart, plonk ziga super charger in there but that's going to loadsa money and lots of techy talk which to be brutally honest I don't understand, probably leads me back to cooler air going in naturally and wrapping the exhaust heat someway, ceramic coating?

Go the whole hog and use a 4litre twin turbo diesel out of an Audi A8 Quattro. 274 bhp, that gets the 2 tonne A8 to 60 in 6.7 seconds and a humungous amount of torque. You can pick up the entire car for £4500 and take it from there.

So quiet you would never know it was a diesel standing beside it at idle.
