I've currently got the S Type leather seats in my 7. The missus complains occasionally of them getting to her back.

Are tillets worth a shout? Seem to sell for the same as the S Type seats, so a basic straight swap.

I've sat in a tilleted car a long time ago so can't remember to comment.

Wondering about long trips etc?

I have tillets and fine them extremely comfortable. Most I've done is a 5 1/2 hour journey in them without any aches or complaints. However I think they're very much a marmite seat and really do not work for others.

You need to try them really as while lots of people find them very comfortable, others as above do not. Personally, they were the best upgrade I ever did as they really connect you to the car and I find them very comfortable. For track work I would say they are a big improvement over leather but for touring it is purely personal preference.

I believe people have gone to Oxted trimming (the original manufacturer of Caterham seats) and got them to reshape the backrest to give more lumbar support. It is a dim and distant memory, but I am sure I have heard of people doing this.

I found the leather seats gave me terrible back ache just on a 15 minute test drive, so ordered Tillets and have driven 600miles in a day without discomfort.

However, if you find the leather seats comfortable, I think it is well worth looking into trying to improve you wife's seat somehow.
Maybe, you could try a small cushion to experiment with how much support is needed.

Everyone's back & backside for that matter is different.
I have the leather chairs which I like but on occasion I have dropped into pot holes which I failed to miss or didn't notice. It can be quite a thud usually with me swearing at the same time.mad
Is it even more of a shock through your bones if you are sitting in a plastic seat?

Well, as usual people will have their own opinions but when I bought my current car my other half and I found the Tilletts to be uncomfortable and most of all cold! We have swapped back to leather seats again and the car is as comfy as the old car for mile after mile of touring.

To be fair, I think the Tillet may have been better for track use but that's not what we do and mileages do vary as they say.

When I originally took my car out for a test drive before purchasing it had tillets fitted. I did find them a bit snug. I then tried the car with leather seats and found it offered a little bit more space.

You could take a brave pill and try the best and cheapest option

Bag seats

Cost roughly feck all and are exceedingly comfortable.

Basically a bin bag full of expanding foam moulded to your arse

I had them in my car an they were stupidly comfortable as in Aberdeen to brands hatch in a day without any aches or pains where as a trip to glasgow in my BMW would leave me half crippled

Just Bob talking carp as usual wink or it might be something to do with his stature. Tillets are BY FAR the most comfortable seats for long journeys in a Caterham, and I have experienced all the different options.

IMO tillets are much, much more confortable than the s type seats. the S have some silly metal bit in them that can get you, and you have to use more of your own muscle for support compared to the tillet.

Only downside with tillets is when you first get in and it's cold. Once the heater has done it's job you're alright tho.
