Who has right of way here?

This one got me thinking the other day. The road directly ahead (over the junction) consists of two lanes that are one way onto the junction.

The road from the perspective of the camera shot is a standard two way road.

So, if you approach from the place the camera is, do you have priority over people trying to turn right from the road directly in-front?

I've seen quite a lot of road rage from people trying to turn left from the camera perspective. People coming from the road ahead have turned right at the same time and it causes incidents. I've even seen people turning left speed up to try and push their nose into the junction first.

Then it's down to the phasing of the traffic lights.

You'd think that the traffic light sequence wouldn't allow both directions at once.

Both go green at the same time.

There is a filter light on the furthest set (from the perspective of the one way road), but the main green lights are illuminated at the same time from both ends.

In these sort of situations I generally go with the fact that it's my right of way and everyone else is wrong.

What a weird junction.

I would have said that the camera perspective has the right of way.... until I viewed it from the opposite view and I could see how that would be a 50/50.

I still think the camera perspective has the right though, as we drive on the left and therefore the outside lane of the 1-way street is effectively a filter lane and they should give way.

Cars from the opposite junction should be giving way. If the road ahead was two lane & you could progress straight on they'd be turning right across the traffic so wouldn't just shoot across but wait for a gap (traffic lights or not).

My fiancee thinks that the cars from the two way road have right of way.

However, if you don't know the area and the junction it causes quite a few near misses.

If cars from the one way street had right of way, they wouldn't need a filter light.

I'd say vehicles turning left onto the bridge would have priority - but I'd still proceed with caution.

Is the bridge one way? As in traffic turning left onto it should stay left, and those turning right should stay right?

Either way it's a very strange junction as why would you need a right filter other than to let pedestrians cross from the first perspective?

You have right of way.

This exactly. You have right of way to turn left and go straight on. Likewise, they have right of way if you can turn right at the junction & they are turning left.

Bridge is two way traffic, but is narrow. The lights break up the traffic so that only one way is flowing at each time.

I don't really see what the confusion is. If you're turning left, then you would have priority over cars turning right.
