Windscreen washer fluid?????

I had my pal in the car today and gave my windscreen a scoosh. The car filled with a cherry smell. My pal commented on how it smelt nice and asked where I got it. Told him it's from the pound shop.
"Ew I would never use that muck in my car"........ I'm missing something. I know the days of a squirt of fairy in the bottle are long gone, but he pays £20 for his autoglym stuff he says. Is there really a big difference? I get big bottle pre mixed for £1 and seems to clean streak free, with the added bonus of smelling of cherry. I'm interested to get some fellow PH'ers take on this. I'm I making some cardinal sin in using the cheap stuff or is it all the same?

Lol first time used it It was a shocker too. But yes you can smell it quite strongly. Nice burst of smell

I spotted some in there, they also had Bubble Gum flavour and a few others I can't remember.

?? Have you had your nostrils sewn up, quite normal to smell washer fluid in the car.

Pound shop fluid sounds great to me, I just buy whatever is on offer.

Mine was a fiver from the Total petrol station. It works perfectly well and I can smell it a bit in the car.

In my 2005 BMW 535d the washer jets gunge up if I use cheaper stuff, as the jets are easily blocked. So I pay silly money for the BMW washer fluid, but I save on the labour costs of clearing the blockages. But if that isn't an issue, then as ling as it works...

If you have a newish car serviced at a main stealer they charge about forty pounds for topping the washer bottles up with their special fluid

+1. Been using Prestone. Quite cheap and readily available in supermarkets, does the job and makes the water bead up nicely, a bit like the RainX stuff.

The grumps will be along soon with tales of doom, your car can easily be written off if you don't use the right spec @ £20 a litre from the main dealers

This is the stuff I use because it doesn't actually freeze during winter. After the winter in 2010 when it was -15 my washer fluid on my saab 9000 froze and split the reservoir despite having neat cheapo fluid in it (not pre mixed). Ever since then I've used lidl finest, apparently made my the people who make oe VW stuff.
