Has anyone swapped the cooling system header tank / overflow / screenwash tank with stainless ones ?

Any guides on prices, sources etc ?
Have they been custom fabrication jobs or off the shelf items ??
If off the shelf have they had to be modified ?

Hi Mate...I have had a custom expansion tank made by a very skilled engineer, I might enquire to see if a copy of the original plastic one can be made as i have a spare..I bought the washer bottle from my friend Chris and i think it was made by someone on the PH classifieds for a Griff but fits where the old one used to....Hope this helps...Ziga

Actually i have just remembered I'm still waiting on a stainless catch tank....lick

Prices...I think the washer bottle new was around £70 and the expansion tank was a one off so the price is non-disclosable...Something similar would be around £130-150.

I bought a washer bottle of flea for Delilah and had it cut down and welded..It cost £40

The 400SX has a metal header tank that looks a bit like the plastic ford one - looks like it's made of brass.

So did Ford ever do metal versions for some models?

Looks to me the sx one is more likely off an MG or a Triumph.
Why is it different anyway? I moved mine to the passenger side as there is too much on the drivers side and no reason for it to be there, I'm also in the process of making an alloy one. I'll post some progress pics later.

Iam confident that the header tank on the sx is rover sdi/tr7 which will not work with the plumbing system on the normal engines although could be made to work.
