Drifting is destroying all the old cheap rwd cars

I'm looking at getting my first taste of rwd with some proper oomph behind it and even the oldest crappest cars are getting bid up. Thing is you know they want it as cheaply as possible too as the number of bids is high but they only knock it up by a few quid each time.

I enjoy watching drifiting and don't hate the sport or the people who take part I just wish it wasn't ruining so many lovely old bmw's, skylines etc.

And welded differentials just sounds so wrong. What would happen if a member of the public bought such a car unknowingly and got hurt?

I think the drifters do destroy a lot of older cars but to be honest, most would be scrapped one way or another anyway, who otherwise is interested in Volvo 340s ?

I think they possibly save a fair few as well.

I would quite like an s14a 200sx but the drifting crew have pushed them prices up alot now, looking at about 3k for an ok one.

This is happening to mx5's. But it's no where near as damaging as that fking stance pish. I've read a few build threads where people have taken quite clean cars and went at the arches with a baseball bat and hammer to fit stupid wheels.
Then you see them on the forums a few weeks later asking how difficult it is to replace a sump as they've smashed it on a cats eye.

Yeah I've read the phrase 'stance' a few times and wondered what they were getting at and googled it. What a great way to make a car handle worse and destroy itself on anything more than 10mm high. Still as long as they look cool with their 'hipster' (still no idea what that means) friends whilst standing on other peoples cars for facebook photo's who cares right?
