Thoughts from the PH Porsche folks please...

Have previously had a number of Porsches, a 996 C2 3.6, 996 C4S and a 997 C4S Cab and a couple of Cayennes. Now find myself without a Porsche again and looking at the advert pages! Not looking to spend a fortune as our old house project is hoovering up plenty of capital at the moment so looking at what fun I can get for about 25K max. Has to be manual and pretty fixed on the idea of a cab of some sort again given the time of year and would like it to be usable enough to commute in at least a few days a week through spring/summer/autumn. Have been looking at late 996 C4S cabs and Boxsters S mainly so far. An RS60 Spyder special edition late Gen 1 caught my eye, I quite like the idea of an early Gen 2 which is just about in price range but do find myself drawn to the 4S cab as it really is a fine looking machine with that arse and its reflector!

So what say you.......

- High spec, low miles late gen 1, maybe a sport edition or an Rs60 and save a few more quid.
- Early gen 2, maybe with a wee bit less spec.
- Low miles, late 996 4S cabby
- Another option???????

Something air-cooled is going to do a lot better than pretty much any other £25k invested I can think of. And be pretty good summer wheels.

Agreed. Perfect compromise between coupe and cab. I doubt you'll get into a Gen 2 for your budget, but it would get you the rear reflector!

+1
I've got a friend thinking of selling his very nice 3.2 G50 Targa if that's of interest? 90k miles and dark blue but not getting enough use with a growing family

I think an air cooled might be a touch too retro for me, great cars though they are. I did look at 993's back when I bought my first 996 and lovely, solid things with bags of character though they were I couldn't see myself using one 2-3 days /week commuting. I appreciate that air cooled values are in a good place just now and would b a better way to retain as much as possible of my cash but probs a later gen car (with all of th engine risk that entails!) may be a better option.

I didn't expect to get into a gen2 997 at my price point, I was meaning a gen 2 box s (one of those are a push for 25k as well looking at current prices!).

I like the idea of a targa, not many about though!

I've emailed a couple of folks tonight about nice 996 4s cabbies so I'll see what happens on that score.

Bought a black 04 4s cab today with a recently rebuilt/upgraded engine. Decent spec and PSE! Flying down to landan on Saturday to collect!
