Lucky you were seen by the volunteer people, who probably don't have any laser equipment to detect your actual speed nor the powers to enforce any sort of penalty. It is true that it is very easy to be exceeding the speed limits, although to those volunteers they may have thought you were exceeding it due to the noise as opposed to the actual speed. Then again, I bet you were having a spirited drive biggrin

They got us on the way to meeting you lot, we were just leaving the village into the 60mph limit so I was just speeding up a bit too early doh!!

Luckily it was just a warning letter, obviously worse if it had been proper enforcement and not the local "he looks like or sounds like he was speeding" brigade.

We all walk this tightrope given the performance available and the ease with which speed can creep up inadvertently.

My village have this volunteer system. Police laser equipment is used, but no power of prosecution. Speeds above a particular figure are reported to the police, and hence the letter you received.

Nothing to do with noise.

Did you see all the health and safety waistcoats?

To be fair I'd be pretty pissed if somebody was razzing through my village, however, I was literally leaving the village and accelerating out of it towards the 60 they were actually facing the other way getting people coming in, they must have heard me and about turned and zapped me quick!!

I actually thought they were doing some sort of fun run or something there was so many of them, crikey it must be very labour intensive whatever it is they do!

Anyhow as said my lesson learned, a momentary lapse of concentration and your nicked!

The Villagers should cheer at the beautiful sound of an Aston and be proud to be British !
Now if it was a Astra or Saxo driver with a drain pipe exhaust on there nasty 4 pots then they deserve the fine !
But I bet you do not get such groups forming in Italian villages grassing up Ferrari drivers !!

Oi, you. I resemble that remark yes I don't speed in 30 limits nono As for the others whistle

My Mrs got caught at the bottom of a very steep hill recently, it is a real accident blackspot as well....... NOT. In 25 years of driving it is her first speeding conviction. I told her to slow down hehe

But that's the problem. You weren't razzing *through* the village, you were leaving it and put your foot down a little early. I don't know the road in question, but somehow I doubt accelerating a hundred yards early is endangering anyone.

I agree with what Tony said.

This is a worrying development when local nosey Parkers are allowed to be involved in upholding the Law. That's what we have a police force for cop. It's as bad as the Animal Gestapo aka RSPCA prosecuting little old ladies for minor animal welfare issues.
