Just after a bit of advice really for this weekend. I'm off to thruxton with my twin boys who are about to turn 7, wisely booked grandstand seats for the day, but one of my lads is Team Yuasa racing mad. How would I go about getting one of the drivers to sign his shirt? I don't normally do this type of thing but isn't there a meet and greet type thing with the teams/drivers on the day?
I think there was at Snetterton but we were in seats about 5 miles away from the paddock.
Any suggestions would be greatfully received.

Best advice.
Dont go home when racing finishes Sunday. Save yourself sitting in the traffic and go over into the Paddock. By then nobody will be asking if you have a ticket, it won't be a scrum and you'll find drivers still hanging round and ok to sign stuff without any problems
We do it every year. You may even get some bits of busted car for your kids if your lucky.

+1. We often have a trade stand at Donington and after the last race there is a rush for the door. If you hang about you can probably get autographs from most of the drivers on the grid and maybe the odd celeb coming out of hospitality too.Dont go home when racing finishes Sunday. I've been lucky enough to win some tickets for the weekend so will be there.
Where's the best places for viewing/taking photo's? I'm guessing Sunday will be very busy.
The complex through the first section is the best area but will be packed they have extended the banking over to the left corner after the first chicane that is quieter from when the last times ive been there.Where's the best places for viewing/taking photo's? I'm guessing Sunday will be very busy.

Thruxton is usually one of the quicker races to clear due to the A303 being a dual carrigeway just outside. The only exception is if we get lots of rain and people get stuck in the mud!
I can remember seeing 3 hour queues to get in, though!
I'll just watch it on TV and dodge the queues and showers!

Yes 2012 I think with the heavy rain was more fun getting out of the car park designer 4x4 with bold tyres going no where while the small cars where going straight by them.Back to btcc news from photos on facebook the james cole UA Toyota is finished ready for racing not heard anything from rob Holland.
If it's bodywork you're after then go to the marshals post after the final race when everyone is heading home and ask for a piece you like the look of. The teams won't be coming to collect anything they can't use again.
I've given quite a lot of carbon fibre out to kids and they really love it at a gt race when you tell them it's part of a Ferrari etc. But don't touch the rough edges

We live in nearby Southampton and go to all the different races at Thruxton throughout the year. There's usually more competitors than spectators, so BTCC race day is a bit of a shock when 30,000 people arrive! As has been said, there are ways to avoid queues but we just go on Saturdays now.
I hope you enjoy Thruxton. It's a bit old school and rough around the edges but it's brilliant. I recommend going to see the cars breaking from high speeds at the chicane, or getting really close to the track at the run up to the complex.
Fingers crossed for sun!
