I do like a nice cup of coffee - and the smell wafting through the house of course. But I don't have oodles to spend on a real fancy machine and don't really like cafetiere sludge.
So has anyone tried these Aeropress coffee machines and if so, how did you find them?
Alternatively, any ideas on reasonably priced filter machines might be worthwhile. I work from home so need to be careful I don't end up with a constant pot on the go and a 15-mug-a-day habit but I'd like to start gettings bags of coffee again rather than instant

Having owned and used all sorts of coffee machines in the past ranging from a La Pavoni down to a french press, I can confirm this is now the only device I use. See below for the following reasons.
1. Without doubt it produces the nicest taste, done right there is real flavour there with no bitterness (bean dependant obviously)
2. The simplest way to make a single cup (never bother with instant now).
3. The most simple and quickest of all machines to clean (automatic bean to cup machines excluded).
I will only leave it in the cupboard if there is more than say 3 cups to make at one time.
I like mine so much I have bought three for presents.

I have a Nespresso and an Aeropress. The Nespresso is good - not as good as the real thing, but is quick and convenient. The Areopress makes a very fine cup of coffee although I think you'd have to taste them back to back to tell the difference from a caffetiere brew. It's certainly much easier to clean up afterwards. I use mine with the Nespresso milk frother for a very fine cappucino. Pricey little device but I'm glad I bought one.

t anything other than a £1000+ bean-to-cup machine is.

Another vote for both aeropress and Hasbean. I have a subscription so they send me a pack of beans in the post every month (the brother in law is on their 1 pack a week deal and still buys more!). Get yourself a semi decent burr grinder though rather than one with blades as it'll give a much more even grind size and therefore a more constant cup of coffeehttp://www.hasbean.co.uk/

I've got a Gaggia Classic, 2 Bialetti stovetop moka pots (a large and a small one), a cafetiere and a Nespresso Pixie. I generally use a kyocera burr hand grinder for my beans as I'm loathe to spend £250 on a grinder.
Handsdown for ease of use, speed and convenience my favourite is the Nespresso although on a good day my little Bialeti makes a fine 'espresso'. The Gaggia is just a pain in the hoop. When it makes good coffee it's fantastic but my god its temperamental.
I prefer my coffee machines consistent, quick and easy - like my women.
