Going to take the plunge. Less than 2k gets you a 03 ST220 with less than 90k on it with a F/S/H...... Set aside a 1k bork fund...... Surely a good buy now. What should I out for?

Tyres are at least £90/corner.
Gearbox and clutch. Loads of electrical toys to fail. But an excellent price!

Where are you finding them, I can find pre-facelift but not post facelift for around that figure

Car will often go OM NOM NOM TASTY DMF I LIKE YOU OM NOM NOM.

At least on the st diesel it will, i think the petrol is a little better.

I've got one, facelift estate which I've had a year next month.
really nice to drive, done 8k miles so far but paid 3500 for it.
I've not seen anything decent for 2 grand, so you did well to find that.

I'd disagree, it's an extremely simple and very common car.

Any monkey can fix it and many mechanics will know them inside and out.

Cash strapped Norfolk constabulary have been using one up until very recently - how do I know this? Been stopped by it!
