986 remote fob range

My 3 series will happily unlock/lock from a good 20 metres away but to do the same on my 986 Boxster you need to be within 10 feet of the car. Not had it long...is this normal or time for a new battery in the fob?

If so, any links to the right battery and is it a straight DIY swap job or does it need reprogramming or similar?

Same on my 996. Place key fob next to your head and press. Seriously, Not sure how fried your brain gets, but worth a good few meters :P

Bog standard CR2032.
I put off changing mine (996) for ages worrying about re-programming but I needn't have worried. Straightforward swap, no re-prog required.
