GT3 seats into a 993TT
Discussion
Alan,
They won't stop you spinning off at Bedford !!!
But if you do, you'll be able to feel the grass verge then the bumps better
They are great for track work, but the thinner padding sure does give me a sore arse on a long journey.
P.s please do not misconstrood that last comment !!

I was wondering what the most number of times peolpe have spun before coming to a stop?
Both I and my passenger counted FOUR complete spins, all of which accompanied by nervous laughter and WEEE sounds!
Top marks must go to the 968 owner who spun off along the back straight (at the kink). His car looked like it had been pulled from a pond afterwards!

Der, maybe you can tell me; did they bolt straight in (they're fresh from a gt3 with the runners etc.) Or did you have to change the brackets?
Who retrimmed them? What was the overall $$$
Thanks
I'm pretty sure they are/were a straight fit; you really should consider this specification, a great combo - the broad ability of the car overall and a big slice of raceresqueness!
DeR.
Well, got them and they're in - using the standard 996 mounting hardware!
This is what you do (sorry, camera had no batteries!)
Remove the supporting bracket from the front of the runners to enable you to straighten the runner.
Remove the locating lugs from the inner runners (hacksaw)
Remove the seatbelt bolts from the frames and cut 1/2 an inch from them. You don't need the outer ones.
I found I needed shorter seatbelt catches (the bit the seat belt clicks into). I used the REAR seat belt ones as nobody will be in the back anyway.
Undo the seatbelts from the sill area (17mm bolt)
Fit the seats in using the original hex head bolts. note that you can only fit 4 in each seat. You need to locate the holes furthest back as the heads will other wise stop the seat sliding fully back. By elongating a hole on the inner runner (only one needed adjustment), it is possible to get the seats further back than the originals.
That's it (I think). I'll organise some pictures asap. Now i've just noticed a power steering / clutch fluid leak in the engine bay that I thought I had already fixed!
Thanks
Alan

I think Ace (were you in the A-team by the way?) got them from:
www.carnewal.com ?
I've already replied last night, suggesting looking at Carnewal, if anyone knows anywhere cheaper, please let me know.
thanks.

I had thought of these seats too, though I fear my ass would be too big for them without utilising a shoe horn and lashings of goose grease. Anyone got any experience with GT3 seats + big ass?
Carnewal doing them in black as standard is a plus too, if anything only to pacify Domster who every time we meet urges me to 'tip the interior the other side of bling with black seats'. Not so soon homey!
