Not sure if this is of interest (or any good).

UK Hotdeals has posted as one of the daily deals a OBDII bluetooth diagnostic tool.

Any good for £5ish delivered?

I've got something similar, there's loads of them on ebay. It works, there's not much more to be said about it, really.

Obviously you need a computer/tablet/smartphone to connect it to.

Yeah, I'm sure they're all made in the same factory in China and just shoved in different boxes.

I got a little one something like this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Super-OBD2-ELM327-V1-5-B...

and just leave it plugged in. My phone syncs to it when I get in the car and I get a nice extra dashboard with various pieces of information on it plus some data-logging.

Would this http://www.amazon.co.uk/ELM327-Bluetooth-Wireless-...

work in a 2010 Mini via bluetooth on an iphone 5 - is there any additional software i'd need to get?

Apparently (I've never tried myself) iPhones don't support Bluetooth properly, so you'll probably need a wireless network one.
