Ferrari 250 GTO: Time For Tea?

Petrolicious celebrates 60 years of Ferrari USA in suitably spectacular fashion

The title of this Petrolicious video is 'The Ferrari 250 GTO Speaks for Itself'. So it doesn't really need an introduction but we sort of have to. It will be brief, honest.

The 1964 Series 2 GTO featured here was driven by Phil Hill and is subjected to a beautiful thrashing by his son Derek in the video. He covers the history and significance of this particular car in great detail so we won't divulge anything here. Worry not though, that stunning V12 is afforded plenty of air time as well.

And that's about it really. One of the world's most desirable and iconic racing cars, being driven hard on gorgeous roads. Put the kettle on!

I'm even liking the styling more than I normally do (I've always thought it far from Pininfarina's best. It's not at all a bad looking car, but for me falls a little short of being the oft quoted most beautiful Ferrari ever).

The full audio visual treatment here does the car a massive justice. It's a superlative video and great to hear a very worthwhile commentary from Phil Hill jr.

Not to be a pedant but Pininfarina didn't have any role in the GTO - it's body shape was developed by Bizzarrini and latterly Forghieri in conjunction with Scaglietti. The essence of necessity rather than styling...ironic that the most iconic (and oft cited as most beautiful) car from Marenello wasn't styled by Pininfarina

goosebumps on my arms ! £50mil is a bargain for something that makes that noise !
