seat wear clocking?

Hi can you tell by rips and tears in seats whether a car has been clocked? Cant figure it out on a car im looking at as others of the same model, year and mileage have a lot of seat corrosion and some have very little.

50,000x1mile trips (i.e. getting in and out of car 50k times) will wear the bolster more than 500x100mile trips.

So will a fat driver, or someone who almost "jumps" in the seat.

Seat corrosion?

As for seat wear, its a good indicator if some fat ass has been in and out of it a lot, but not really an ideal indicator of mileage. It could be low miles but used a lot for short journeys for example or just not been cared for. For mileage alterations look at service logs and general documentation (MOTs etc) for the car as that might show up some odd looking mileage would be my best suggestion.

Then again I'd rather have a 100,000 mile car that's been used carefully on long journeys than one that's done 35,000 miles of short town based trips...
